- I also had similar problem before with my new 28.8 USR Sportster External.
- After spending one week in checking winsock configuration and hardware setup, I
- finally found out the cause is the bad phone line between phone jack and the
- modem. I was using an old line which causes many transmition errores. With ATI6
- I had several hundreds of blers. After replacing the line, the transfer rate
- was improved a lot.
- It's true that the rate will vary a lot depending on the server and the time of
- download. I got only 0.5 K/s at about 10:pm when I downloaded binary files from
- Oracle ftp server. However, the other morning at about 7:30am I got 1.5 K/S
- from the same site for the same file.
