  16. I also had similar problem before with my new 28.8 USR Sportster External.
  17. After spending one week in checking winsock configuration and hardware setup, I
  18. finally found out the cause is the bad phone line between phone jack and the
  19. modem. I was using an old line which causes many transmition errores. With ATI6
  20. I had several hundreds of blers. After replacing the line, the transfer rate
  21. was improved a lot.
  22. It's true that the rate will vary a lot depending on the server and the time of
  23. download. I got only 0.5 K/s at about 10:pm when I downloaded binary files from
  24. Oracle ftp server. However, the other morning at about 7:30am I got 1.5 K/S
  25. from the same site for the same file.
